How TRAK TFRC handles data collected through our mobile application.

1. What the App Does

TRAK FRC is a wildlife and conservation monitoring application. It connects to LoRa-based field hardware (GPS collars, trap sensors, and basestations) to display animal location data and trap status in real time. It is intended for use by conservation organisations, researchers, and field teams.

2. Information We Collect

a) Organisation Credentials

To access data, users enter an organisation name and PIN. These are stored locally on the device and used only to authenticate requests to our backend. We do not collect usernames, email addresses, or passwords.

b) Location Data

The App displays GPS location data transmitted by animal tracking collars in the field. This is animal location data, not user location data. The App does not access or collect the location of your phone or device.

c) Bluetooth (BLE) Usage

The App uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to connect directly to TRAK FRC basestations for configuration and live data. This is a local connection between your phone and the basestation only — no BLE data is transmitted to our servers or stored outside the device.

d) Trap Sensor Data

The App receives and displays open/closed status from LoRa trap sensors. This data is stored on our backend for the organisation's records.

e) Device Information

We do not collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, or any personal information about the device or its owner.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Organisation credentials are used solely to retrieve and display your organisation's field data.
  • Field data (collar locations, trap status) is stored on our backend and is accessible only to authenticated members of your organisation.
  • We do not use any collected data for advertising, analytics, or profiling.

4. Data Storage and Security

Field data is stored securely on Cloudflare's infrastructure (Cloudflare D1 / Workers). Cloudflare's data centres are SOC 2 compliant. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Organisation PINs are used as access tokens and are never stored in plain text on our servers.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your data with third parties except:

  • Cloudflare, Inc. — our infrastructure provider, who stores and processes field data on our behalf under their standard data processing terms.

6. Data Retention

Field data (collar locations, trap events) is retained for as long as your organisation account is active. You may contact us at any time to request deletion of your organisation's data.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at traktfrc.com/privacy-policy with an updated date at the top.
